Our beloved beta fish, Trooper, has been in the family since October of 2008. He has survived many 'dirty water' transissions, but I fear this last one may be his last. You may not can tell from the photo that Trooper has somehow managed to loose some fins and has a rather large bald spot on top of his head. He now spends his days hovering at the top of his fish bowl starring blindly out into the distance. He hasn't eaten for awhile now, and looks hungry.

Well, we'll miss you Trooper. Now once I say that, he'll probably hang around for another 6 months.

Taste Better With Age???

Well, some months ago, I tried my hand at Beer making with my handy dandy HomeBrew kit given as a gift from the wife. The beer label was inspired by my Father-in-Law who likes the phrases 'Damn it Man' and 'Hootie Hoo'. Not quite sure if it is used as often as the past, but still inspired the label. After the brew was so-called finished by careful reading of the instructions, I decided to keep it cooking so to speak in the fridge and cabinets in hopes the taste will become....well, good. Unfortunately, this was not the case and the brew was donated to the local landfill. While fun in the making, will not be attempted again.

Burning the House Down with Jimmy Dean Sausage

Needless to say, it was an interesting morning at the McKenzie residence....

For some reason, I haven't been able to catch up on sleep this week which makes it difficult to get up in the mornings for work. I finally make it out of the bed where then I take the dog out for his business. Meanwhile, Christin hurrys to get ready and pack all her things as she has to go out of town for a Wedding this weekend (Yes, she is in another wedding....)

Apparently, during this time of my awakening, she attempts to fry 3 pieces of sausage in the Microwave...This unfortunately, catches the paper towel holding the delicious morning treats on fire. She then opens the microwave oven to let out all the smoke and smell for the whole house to experience. I have the gut feeling at this moment to try and fan the Jimmy Dean smoke away from the 2 smoke detectors we have installed in the Kitchen. One being connected to the Fire Dept directly. I feel my attempt was a success and so I stoped fanning the alarms to help her carry her many bags for her weekend excersion out the door when i hear the screaming of the 2 alarms that I just abandoned. One alarm is bad enough, but for 2 to go off at the same time, was insane.

This triggers utter chaos around 7:30am. I instantly go into scamble mode to try to find the phone number for assistance on how to turn it off... At this point the house phone rings and they ask if it's an emergency. I tell the lady my wife was cooking in the microwave and everything is fine and tell me how to turn off the noise. I get the alarm reset and all is quiet again...or so I thought. Come to find out, it's my fault I couldn't find the number and my fault I was yelling. I'm sorry, I had to yell to hear myself over the loud ringing in my ears.

Plantar Fasciitis

So I bought this lovely contraption for Christin because of the constant pain and agony she (and I) have experienced for the past (so many) weeks. This is probably just one of those info-mmercial gimmicks you see on late night TV, but maybe, just maybe, it will relieve some of her pain in the foot area.

I have tried to massage the evil pain out of it, but with no luck. On the Internet, we found it may be a disorder called Plantar Fasciitis, which translates to (Husband needs to rub the feet disorder)

The gadget I purchased is suppose to relieve my hands more than her foot I'm sure... I think I have developed some sort of Handlantar fasciitisorehand because of all the massaging I have attempted on her to relieve her pain.

Let's see how long she will actually wear the thing...hahaha. It is SUPPOSE to be worn all night long, but I'll bet it doesn't last an hour

Something Good CAN Come out of Robertsdale, AL

Tim Cook is from Robertsdale, AL and is set to take over for Steve Jobs while out for health reasons.

(Fortune Magazine) - An intensely private Alabaman and Auburn University engineering grad (class of 1982), Cook is also a workaholic whose only interests outside of Apple appear to be cycling, the outdoors, and Auburn football. (Talk about tough years: Apple's stock is down 50% year to date; the Tigers, nationally ranked early in the season, were 4-5 at presstime.) What's more, there's every reason to believe that Apple would at least be stable for some years to come if Cook were to find himself at the helm. The reason: He's essentially been running much of the company for years.

A Home Brew...

For those of you who don't know me too well, I am a beer lover. Not saying I'm an Alcoholic, just love the taste of different beers and brews. My lovely Wife has supported this habit (love) for beer by buying me a Home Brewery Kit. This is my first ever attempt of making the stuff myself and after smelling the result after 3 weeks of waiting, may be my last. It still has quite a ways to go however...

Here is the Brew station that has been in the Wife's way for 3 weeks now. She has not been able to make a hot, home-cooked meal since I planted brewery in the kitchen.

Here is the finished product. Well after sitting here for another 3 weeks, then will be the finished product. I haven't came up with a name yet for this brew, but after the first taste, I'm sure one will present itself.

Tucker's Tick

Tucker got his first Tick last night. I found it after his visit to the Vet's office for his annual shots. It attached itself right above his eyelid. I tried a couple different things to get it to come off...

First I tried burning if off. All we had at the house was one of those long lighters I use to light the grill with. I missed a couple of times and caught his eyebrow on fire...opps.

Next I tried to smother the thing with a glob of Vaseline thinking it couldn't breath and come out on it's own. I didn't have the patience to wait it out, so after a few minutes I called my friend 'B' who worked awhile at the vet's clinic to come yank the thing out because I thought if I tried, I would pull and leave the head sticking in his skin.

B came to the rescue and performed the surgery in a matter of seconds. Today, his eyebrow is still swollen but he seems ok.

Zune...Back to Life

According to an article over on Wired, the flaw seems to be a failing in the internal clock to handle the leap year we've just left. As the clock ticked over onto its 365th day the system panicked rather impressively, with the result that owners of 30GB Zunes – as few as that may be – were left with a completely unusable device.While the flaw – already being referred to as the “Z2K9 bug” – is embarrassing for the company and awkward for users, the good news is that it's already righted itself with no intervention required on Microsoft's part. Now that we've left the last day of 2008 behind, Zunes should start behaving themselves once more – as the clock resets back to day one of a new year. The flaw will likely resurface next leap year, of course, but it's expected that Microsoft will release a firmware update before that time.

NEW YEARS EVE...HARD ROCK BILOXI

We met Glenda and Danny at the Hard Rock after picking Christin up from work. I should have stayed a little later at the office, because they closed at 4pm for Spirits in the Lounge!! My work is a little too relaxed at times (which is a good thing) When we got there, I went up and met with Danny and his friends to watch the start of the Georgia Tech game. This turned out to not be much of a game at all (never know when playing an SEC team...) We all met at the Vibe restaurant which had a good atmosphere. Me and Christin both had the Filet with Lobster Tail, which made Christin sick later (or was it from the casino smoke???) A little tidbit about the Hard Rock.... When going to the restroom...don't be alarmed when walking in and finding women at the sinks for the men or men at the sinks for the women. The bathroom sinks are joined, the toliets are through another door. I thought I had a little too much to drink the first trip in, thinking I went in the wrong door... After we ate, we headed to where we had reservations to ring in the new year. There were free drinks and seating above everyone where the band was playing. The band was alot like the Tip-Tops and put on a good show.

After loosing track of time, we went downstairs to feed the casino slot machines to try out our luck for 2009. Turns out, our luck for the new year is fairly good, only lost a total $10 to the slots.

Stone Mountain Christmas

Christmas Eve...Eve we decided to go to Stone Mountain for a couple of days while up in Atlanta... It was a great time, however is was so foggy we couldn't see the carving in the mountain or even the mountain itself. We went down to see the Christmas Laser Show, but the lasers could not penetrate the heavy fog, so all you could make out was blurry laser drawings. We walked and walked and saw many Christmas lights and attended the Polar Express 4-D experience, where we watched a very condensed version of the movie in 3-D where the seats would vibrate, spray mists of water, and even could smell the hot chocolate coming from the movie! We really enjoyed seeing everyone, Dash was also fun to be around. I'm glad he remembered us.

Zune Y2K9

This deserves a spot on Peanut's Posts...

I take my Zune to work every day so I can listen to my songs to tune out all the urgent computer problems and questions people at work can come up with.

I discovered it to be no working, and after a little time searching on Google, found I'm not the only one with the problem.

My Zune has been a great gift from my Wife which I had to send it off to be replaced only once before. (which is pretty good for a Microsoft product)

Hopefully the powers-to-be will find a quick fix for this as the thing is good for nothing now.

GeoCaching in Orange Beach

Me and the wife met up with PoptartGIRL and RoadRunner last Saturday while they were down. Along with GiGi, we all went down to LuLu's to have a bite to eat where Dash played in the sand. Afterwards, I went with RoadRunner to do a little GeoCaching to add to my total finds. We were able to find all but two. I believe the two we didn't find were just no longer there. It was a perfect day to go on the hunt which ended with a boat ride.

Not Keeping UP!!

I haven't kept up with my blog too well...

Blogging, I have found, is very hard work. After sleeping all day and doing nothing, I find that waking the computer to type a little on the keys is tough work! Not really, I'm not the one sleeping all day...my wife is. She doesn't work and just talks to the dog all day. Just kidding... she will never know I wrote this because, honestly, I don't think she has ever seen this blog. So if she finds out I'm talking about her, I know someone out there talked...

On another note...I've just implemented a proxy server at work and found that many folks at work are actually spending more time than I thought doing no work at all. Ironic... I now have the joy of blocking sites of my chosing just to piss them off. I love my job

Anyways, hope everyone out there are doing well and treating each other with respect and love. Please stay tuned another month or two for another post.

There's rdrnr77 finding one under this Double-Decker Bus outside a resturant near where we were staying...I wasn't much help finding this one.

These come in all shapes and sizes and can contain all kinds of stuff. The thrill is in the hunt!

San Francisco Trip

For Christmas, my Mother and Father-in-Law gave the family a vacation. The destination was chosen to be San Francisco, CA. I've never been to the West Coast before and was eager to pay a visit. Fact is, I was thrilled with the great gift of having a vacation to get away from our everyday lives. March 12th, Christin, Danny, Glenda, and I flew out of Pensacola, FL (where I was the only one that had to be searched by security all because my driver's license was one month expired) to Atlanta, Ga where we met up with Justin, Melissa, Benjamin, Jonathan, and Britney. After a (short) layover and a beer or two, we loaded another plane where we would call home for another 5 hours. I forget what time we finally arrived in San Fran, but it must of been pretty late. It was hard getting use to the time change. We then drove our rented minvan to Half Moon Bay, CA about 30 miles to the South. We stayed at a beautiful 5 bedroom, 3 bath house on the coast.

This is the beginning of our Blog and hopefully it will turn out great. We just returned from our San Francisco trip where I learned Justin and Melissa has a blog and so I thought to start our own. Here is a picture of us posing in front of Alcatraz in San Francisco. We had a great trip and enjoyed hanging out with the family.
